Good looks, good hair, warm personality, great sense of humor...all understandable. But where did he get those feet?????

According to sports talk radio news this morning, January 24 is the most depressing day of the year. That was according to some statistical contortion of temperature, percipitation, average debt, income, etc....
In fact, today was an Oregonian's nirvana. Warm, sunny, bliss. I took Dylan to the zoo and I swear almost everyone I saw was skipping. The happiness was oozing out of even the animals. It was such a great change and such a great day. Too bad Greg doesn't get more than a peep out the window between dawn and dusk. Maybe I shouldn't tell him about today. On the other hand, why is he working...if not so Dylan and I can soak up the rays together at the zoo on a day like today? Thanks Greg!

Does anything define Joy quite like a little boy and his choo-choo train?

I can hardly remember the last time it wasn't raining here. The "It could happen to You; News at 6" is all about Portland houses sliding down hills into other houses this week. I was always happy that we lived on top of a hill, so I didn't have to worry about flood insurance. I never thought about sliding down the hill INTO the creek. Actually, we live on a pretty flat spot (old airport) at the top of a decent hill. I guess that leaves us pretty safe. Except maybe for meteors...and lightening...and solar radiation.

The good news is that the ski conditions have been comparatively excellent this year. And Greg picked this year to buy a season ski pass. Tele turns in the powdery snow have left him with chronic knee-itis, but that has hardly taken the shine off the ski season. However, there does appear to be a downside to a manual transmission after a day of tele in powder!

After a nice holiday with Georgia Grandma (Dylan-proclaimed "Namma") and Georgia Grandpa (Dylan-proclaimed "Poppie"), we're all adjusting to Greg going back to work this week. Greg and Dylan bonded this break as never before and we have officially entered the Daddy-Do-It (only) stage of parenting. That's not as easy when Daddy is at work. It's worth it though to see the two of them so head over heels in love with each other. Last night I chased the naked boy around the house with a diaper for 30 minutes before Greg waltzed in and had the boy fully dressed and teeth brushed in five minutes flat. My how times change.
