Welcome! ACTS History Area Churches Together Serving (ACTS) opened on August 4, 1986 with sixteen local churches participating. It was obvious in the beginning that there was a need for an organization such as ACTS. Presently, there are approximately 76 churches involved in the work that we do. Volunteers serve the Lord by staffing the Center and working behind the scenes to handle the needs of people who come to ACTS on a daily basis. An attempt is made to meet both the physical and spiritual needs when clients are interviewed. They are encouraged to become part of a church on their choice, thus making that church aware of their needs. Clients are invited to join in the morning prayer if they choose to do so. Our Mission The purpose of ACTS is to give temporary and/or emergency aid, in the name of Christ, to persons in need in the Aiken, SC area. Operating expenses of ACTS are met through member church dues, individual and organizational contributions, grants, and the ACTS Thrift Store. Since our founding, we have provided:
Many people in our area are within one paycheck or less of financial trouble. Many need food, warmth, prescription medicine, home furnishings, and additional aid. Reaching out in Christ's name to those among us who need a helping hand is the mission of ACTS.
