A witch is one who practices witchcraft. Witchcraft is whatever witches do. Obviously. There has been a resurgence of interest in the old religion lately, perhaps in response to the failures of traditional Christian churches. Many modern witches are merely curious dabblers, others are devoted followers of the faith. In either case superstitious fear and persecution is inappropriate in a society that espouses freedom of religion. See also Wicca
