Browse Amazon Books: PSAT / NMSQT Standardized Examinations

PSAT stands for "Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test." NMSQT stands for "National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test". These are two names for the same test, cosponsored by the College Board and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Besides being good practice for the SAT (or ACT, for that matter) The PSAT is used to award the National Merit Scholarships, and the National Achievement Scholarships -- both very prestigious awards.

Amazon's search function blows a fuse looking for "PSAT but not SAT," so NMSQT yields a "cleaner" result than "PSAT", although many titles are missed this way. SPBSQSA, as always, stands for "Society for the Preservation of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America."

Cracking the PSAT, 2006 -

One result of the "No Child Left Behind" program has been an increased emphasis on standardized test scores. As a result, the "old" tests have been subverted, and the College Board has come out with "new" tests, which place less emphasis on multiple choice questions, and include more on writing skills and reasoning ability, (but not the Miller Analogies Test, which has been completely removed.) This is probably the best year ever to think about a little advanced preparation for the exams, and this book comes highly recommended.
