Browse Amazon Books: DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST)

DANTES means Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support, one of the best benefits available to active duty military personnel. The DANTES Subject Standardized Tests are remarkably similar to the CLEP exams, and there is little to recommend one over the other. Military personnel will find it more convenient to take the DSST. Civilians can take the DSST through Thompson Prometric, or the CLEP, whichever they prefer. For more information, see our DANTES / DSST page.

Official DSST Test-Preparation Guide -

Don't assume that this "official" guide is what you need. It only covers 8 of the 37 exams, namely Business Mathematics, Ethics in America, Human Resource Management, Introduction to Business, Organizational Behavior, Personal Finance, Principles of Financial Accounting, and Principles of Supervision. If you are taking any of those exams, it is an excellent resource. Otherwise, the sparse "general" information in this book is pretty much a waste of time.

Servicemember's Guide to a College Degree -

Originally published as Soldier's Guide to a College Degree, this revised edition is the one to get. One of the best features of the book is the large number of website addresses to access for more information. Of course websites disappear with alarming frequency, so the most up-to-date edition is the best.
