Double Vision: An East-West Collaboration for Coping With Cancer -
Critics will be quick to point out that the evidence here is purely anecdotal, but the real value of the book is in it's approach. Alternative and holistic therapies need not be mutually exclusive with the aggressive chemical and surgical options of Western medicine, but can be complementary. Ideally, the Eastern approach to wellness should be incorporated into healthy lifestyle choices long before a life-threatening medical crisis, such as cancer, arises. The macrobiotic recipes are not the "meat" of this book, but they are useful to those less familiar with the significance of healthful nutrition. The suggestions for further reading are excellent -- neither too arcane for the general reader nor "new age" fluff, they form a solid basis for taking a more active role in one's own health. | ||||||
