The Oxford History of Ancient Egypt - (also hardcover) -

This book generally gets rave reviews, with the only reservation being that it is definitely not one of the "for dummies" sort. Given that Egyptology is a rather specialized interest, most readers will probably appreciate the detail of the scholarship and references to primary sources. Although the book is "introductory" in the sense that it is a broad survey, it is intended for "advanced" students, i.e. those with some background in archaeology and historical research generally.

The world's largest collection of Egyptian antiquities is (duh!) The Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

University of Chicago Oriental Institute
A web search for "Egyptology" won't tell you that this is one of the world's foremost resources. Indiana Jones was supposed to have studied here, but unlike Indy the Institute is real.

The British Museum - Another buried treasure. The museum website's HTML discourages "deep linking," so you may have to "dig" a little.

A Meta page linking to numerous in-depth sources.
