SILVER Level Classes
Intermediate Level Class Schedule
You don't have to pay until you show up and you are always free to call and cancel.
Walk-in's are always welcome, but please call us on day of class to confirm that the date has not changed.

Definition SILVER Level Dancer: This series requires full knowledge and skills set from the Bronze series prior to beginning. Now it's time to step up your abilities by fine-tuning your foundation to add greater speed, control, power, movement complexity, music interpretation, rhythmical variations, syncopations, play, and body movement plus other intermediate-level techniques and concepts...all taught through fun, exciting moves and patterns you'll enjoy showing off on the floor.

For Intermediate to Advance dancers that want to learn more fun and playful footwork. West Coast Swing is unique in it's ability to play not just in the partnership but on your own. Another unique aspect of this dance is that the man's and woman's footwork is different. You have the ability to style up your dancing with your footwork without effecting your partner. So no matter what level your partner is at your footwork is your own. Absolutely No Bronze level allowed, no exceptions!

There are many different types of turns and spins in dance. The type of turn depends on the dance and the move you are trying to perform.
In this class we will be focusing on the most commonly done turns done in most dances
Turns are done by both Men and women. From a simple left or right rotation to double and triple turns and more.
Without proper execution not only will you effect your balance, create unnecessary dizziness but you can also create a potential for injury's short term and long term.
Learn to turn correctly from the start and you will learn to improve your dancing.

Every dance has it's own character. In addition to the character of dance, we will also be covering the foundation of musicality. .

This is a new class an is estimated to be at least 8 weeks long.
This is not a class for everyone so please read carefully before you decide to take this class.
This class is intense class. Most of the information in this class has been covered in previous classes as the technique in the patterns that have been taught. The material in this class applies to all patterns you do and will ever do.
This class is about taking your dancing to the next level. There are patterns in this class but should not be new to the experienced dancer. If you consider yourself an advance dancer you will still find this class a challenge.
Are you interested in: 1. Only doing a limited number of less complex patterns? 2. Just getting on the dance floor? 3. Just meeting men or women? 4. Dancing with bar dancers? 5. Dancing with beginners all your life? 6. Dancing in the past instead of the present and future?
Than this class is not for you.
However if you are interested in... 1. Learning to play! 2. Learning to dance to the music! 3. Being sought after by any woman! (to dance) 2. Being the focus of any man! (again to dance) 3. Dancing the current styles and patterns the top pro's are doing. 4. Being the envy of others who are watching you?

This class is about practice time and individual attention. No new patterns, you work on what you want to work on. It could be from our classes or something you picked up else where.

This class is about the body.. This class will focus on isolating the body to enhance your dancing.
There are 3 choices when involving your body in your dance. Choice 1: You can look 2 dimensional and flat and boring. Choice 2. You can look out of control and disconnected and in general you can look entertaining and make people smile and laugh. Much like a circus clown. Choice 3. You can look in control, 3 dimensional, in control, fun, smooth and sexy.

This class is for Novice/Intermediate level dancer. This class offers patterns that not only look good on the dance floor but also are functional when it comes to good floor craft.
The patterns in this class are designed to be done either intentionally or on the spur of the moment to prevent collisions when you are confronted by the wreckless dancer.

Q: What is the West Coast Summer Masters Series? A: Technique classes designed to take your lead or follow to higher levels. We've received requests for more focused technique clinics over the summer and we have listened to your feedback. This is exactly what you've been asking for.
The Masters Series will feature interesting material/patterns - but that is not the focus. The intent is to use those patterns to elevate your lead or follow, timing, connection, and musical interpretation. Helping you to become a really good...even great...west coast swing dancer
We have been consulting with some of the top level dancers and instructors around the country to help us put together some quality classes that will bring your dancing to new heights. These classes will be about becoming a better dancer and not about giving you more moves just so you can forget them later. We will be helping you to learn how to create choreography on the fly by becoming a responsive lead and a responsive follow.

Gathering, Stretching and Rolling

Perhaps the foundation to better dancing, to a better lead, to a better follow is the 3 advance concepts of Rolling, Gathering and Stretching. Rolling or rolling your count or the rolling count or the rolling triple is about better control and moving through the center to help accent the music and better communication with your partner. Gathering and stretching are concepts that embody the real concepts of lead and follow. From an appearance point of view it creates a cool look on the floor. From a partnership point of view it allows exceptional communication between the lead and the follow.
These concepts are the foundation to all other technique, styling and pattern classes that you will take. This is the most common Advance-basics being taught by the top dancers and instructors from New York to L.A.

Floating your slot

The track and rail slot is still the standard being taught all across the country in beginner level classes. The track and rail is used to help teach precision and control of movement. The more advance level dancers however are dancing with greater depth and more style by using the rectangular slot. The rectangular slot is the style of West Coast that dates back to the 1960's when the dance was better know as Sophisticated Swing. What is old is now new again with the use of the rectangular slot is bringing back a 3-D look back to your dancing.

This workshop is part of our Masters Series classes that are designed to improve your lead and follow.
In West Coast Swing there is specific jobs that are part of the lead and specific jobs that are part of the follow. In this workshop we will define the jobs of both the lead and the follow. Frequently due to lack of knowledge and/or skills the jobs become confused. When one person does not due their job in this dance than the other person has to adjust by taking on their job or duties. When this happens the partnership looses it's cohesion and mistakes start coming in and these are mistakes that you can not work with. When each partner does their job than mistakes don't happen, rather new opportunities present themselves and you take your dancing up a notch or 2.

It hovers in every dance....that pesky little gremlin that suddenly trips up the sure-fire move you were trying to do. Was it "her" fault? "His" fault? Or just a strange misinterpretation between the two of you?
Whatever it was...it'll be far more FUN if you learn how to work with those goofy gremlins who suddenly pop in at the most unexpected times....rather than allowing missteps and mistakes to frustrate you or trip you up.
Ladies: Learn how to recover better from mistakes - and a few new play opportunities too! Men: Learn how to react when your partner does the unexpected, so you can keep your timing and your cool. with style to boot!
We cannot predict exactly what "mistakes" will happen nor can we entice the "Ghost in your West Coast" to appear in class. However, we can teach you tips and tricks to recover from most situations, using the techniques you learned in our earlier Masters series with fun play patterns and styling as examples.
RESTRICTED Attendance: you must be a "Silver/Gold" level dancer who has already learned: - Using "and ahs" to lead/follow better and move more rhythmically through the dance --(Ladies) how to stretch on anchors --(Men) how to gather before leading the lady forward
You don't have to have these skills down perfectly; but you must have some knowledge of concepts (through our June Gathering/Stretching Masters Series or another instructor's class.)
