Master points are awarded for each game won, and bonus points are awarded for placing 1st or 2nd in the tournament.

The points are allocated according to the following schedule:

3 point matches won are worth 0.05 points.
5 point matches won are worth 0.10 points.
7 point matches won are worth 0.15 points.
9 point matches won are worth 0.20 points.
11 point matches won are worth 0.25 points.
1st place in the tournament gets the size of the field multiplied by 0 .10.
2nd place in the tournament gets the size of the field multiplied by 0 .05. 
Byes awarded at a tournament count as a win and are awarded points.

Double master points are awarded the first meeting of each month.

At the end of each quarter the person with the most master points is declared the winner and receives a prize, such as a book or backgammon equipment. At the end of the year the person with the most master points is declared player of the year, receives a prize. A listing is placed in the Chicago Point Newsletter and Flint Area Backgammon News which receive worldwide distribution in the backgammon community.
