December 14, 2006 (Day 7)

We visited a park in Huancayo (about 20 minutes from Concepcion). A sign over the entrance to the park reads "Front of the World of Love."

In the park I met a class of 6th grade students (11 and 12 years old) who were on a "promotion" trip. When they return to school in late March they will be going into secondary school. They were from Cerro de Pasco, a town between Lima and Huancayo (about 4 hours away). I gave the teacher, Bita (in the picture on the top row), my card and asked her to write to me and I would send her copies of the photos.

By the way, they spoke little or no English and the conversation was in Spanish.

14 de diciembre, 2006 (día 7)

Visitamos un parque en Huancayo (veinte minutos de Concepción - más o menos). Un señal encima del entrada de parque dice —Portado Al Mundo Del Amor.

En el parque conocí una clase de estudiantes de Cerro de Pasco, una ciudad entre Lima y Huancayo. Los estudiantes tuvieron 11 o 12 años.

Yo le di la maestra, Bita, mi tarjeta y yo le pedí que me escribiera. A le Enviaré las fotos.

Los estudiantes y los padres y Bita no hablaran inglés. Conversamos en español.

December 11, 2006 (Day 4)

We were in Machu Picchu and had a few hours before our train left for Cusco. We found the local library and met the librarian, Emma Fuentes Tumpe. We were there an hour or two and helped Emma hang her Christmas decorations.

Estuvimos en Machupicchu. Antes de nuestro tren salió para Cusco, buscamos la biblioteca. Conocimos a la bibliotecaria, Emma Fuentes Tumpe. Por uno o dos horas les ayudamos con sus decoraciones para la navidad.

En la parte temprano de 2006, nuestros amigos, Leslie y Pat King nos invitaron ir a Perú, con ellos, en el diciembre próximo cuando Magali, la ninjera de sus hijo, Emmett, se graduaría de la escuela médica. Invitamos asistir la fiesta celebrar la graduación de Magali.

Sherry y yo salimos por Perú cinco días antes de los Kings. Fuimos a Machupicchu, entonces conocimos los Kings y Magali y su familia en Lima. La viaje de Lima a Concepción fue siete horas. Habiá dos coches con nos gringos y Magali y su hermano, Jimmy, y su mamá Nellie. El viaje al hogar de Magali en Concepción fue siete horas. El viaje a través de los montañes de andinos a Concepción fue increible. Los andinos son muy bonita.

Early in 2006, our friends Leslie and Pat King invited us to go to Peru with them in December 2006, to attend the graduation party of their friend Magali. Magali had been their son Emmett's nanny for two years. She returned to her home in Peru in February 2006, in order to finish her last year of medical school. She graduated from Medical School in early December, 2006.

Sherry and I left 5 days early to go to Macchu Pichu and we met the Kings and Magali, her mother, Nellie, and her brother Jimmy in Lima. It took the two cars 7 hours to reach Magali's parent's home in Concepción. The drive through the beautiful Andes Mountains to Concepción was incredible.
