Orin
Sherman was born on 7 October 1806 at Pittstown, Rensselaer Co., NY. He was the son of
Elisha Sherman and
Lydia Ann Borden. Orin Sherman married
Eliza Akin circa 1830. Orin Sherman married
Catherine Nee-unknown Sherman after 1857. Orin Sherman died on 13 November 1879 at Kent Co., DE, at age 73.

The following message appeared on a notice of auction sale.
The subscriber will sell at Public Auction, at his residence in PITTSTOWN, two and a half miles East of Johnsville, and two and a half miles West of Buskirk's Bridge, on THURSDAY, FEB. 15, 1867, At 10 o'clock, A.M., the following Property:
ONE FARM OF 185 ACRES. Said farm is in a good state of cultivation--has a new two story House,
22 by 38, Kitchen and Wood House attached; three Barns, two 30 by 40, and one 30 by 60, with sheds and stables sufficient to keep a large flock of sheep, cattle and horses; hog house, corn crib, and all other necessary out-buildings--has plenty of fruit--Apples, Pears, Plums, Cherries, Grapes and Currants. The Farm is well watered with brook and springs; has running water at the house and all of the barns--plenty of wood and timber for the use of the Farm.
Also, another Farm of 110 Acres, has a new house one and a half story, with seven rooms and hall below, and four rooms and hall above; wood house, corn house, hog house, hay, barn, blacksmith shop, and a barn 30 by 40, with cellar and stables; plenty of fruit, wood, timber and water, for the use of the Farm.
Will also sell the following Personal Property:
One pair of matching Colts, 5 years old this spring; 3 Cows, two 3 year old Heifers, 72 Sheep,
24 Lambs, 1 two horse Lumber Wagon, 1 two horse Spring Wagon, 1 Truck Wagon, 3 Sleighs, 1 Cutter,
1 Mowing Machine, 1 Fanning Mill, Rakes, Forks, Plows, Drag and Cultivators, Cider Casks, and about eight barrels of Vinegar, together with a quantity of HOUSEHOLD FURNITURE.
Terms of Sale on Personal Property--A credit of nine months will be given on all sums over Five Dollars on good endorsed notes, with interest; all sums under Five Dollars, Cash.
Terms of Sale on Farms--On the first, Six Thousand Dollars, Cash, the balance on Bond and Mortgage. Farm No. 2, Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars, Cash, the balance on Bond and Mortgage.
