Foothills Philharmonic: for the love of making music!

Foothills Philharmonic is the latest addition to Greenville's growing cultural scene. FP is an all-volunteer orchestra made up of accomplished non-professional musicians from Greenville, the Upstate, and from as far away as Atlanta, Georgia, and whose mission it is to rehearse and give spirited performances of outstanding orchestral literature.

Current membership includes individuals from many walks of life: part-time musicians, business and professional people, teachers, students, homemakers, and more. All of FP's members, however, possess considerable training and experience on their performing instruments. The orchestra is lead by Dr. Gary Robinson, a faculty member at Greenville's Fine Arts Center, who is also the Director of Greenville County Youth Orchestra, and has lead concerts with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra and Asheville (NC) Symphony Orchestra.

Membership in the Foothills Philharmonic is open to amateur and professional musicians. (Amateur musicians must pass an audition that demonstrates their ability to perform standard orchestral literature.) Musicians with an interest in becoming a member of Foothills Philharmonic are encouraged to contact orchestra Director at (864) 232-0175.

Membership Requirements:
  • Suggested audition materials: movement of a concerto or major sonata composed for your instrument
  • Suggested previous experience: training in youth orchestra, college orchestra, or professional orchestra; Greenville Civic or equivalent band.
  • So as to maintain the artistic integrity of the orchestra and its performances, FP members are expected to meet all or the great majority of rehearsals for which they are scheduled.
  • An annual, tax-deductible membership contribution of $50 is required for membership.
