Are You A Sheep In Wolves
Clothing?
Rom 12:1-2 I beseech you
therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a
living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your
reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed
by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and
acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
We have all heard the term, “Wolf in Sheep’s
Clothing”. That is referring to someone who comes to us looking and acting like
a Christian, usually one who is “in the Ministry” but indeed is not a minister
of God, but a minister of iniquity. They love to devour people and ministries
that are seeking after the will of God! They sneak in unseen amongst the flock,
and tear and gnash at the sheep when they least expect it. I am sure that if we
take a poll, most of us have encountered a “Wolf in Sheep’s clothing” at one
point or another in our Christian walk.
Mat
7:15-20 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but
inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men
gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth
forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree
cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good
fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast
into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
In today’s Church, we have even a bigger problem. We
have “Sheep in Wolves Clothing”. If a saint of old were to walk in to just
about any building with the name “Church” in the front of it today, they would
die a thousand deaths at the appearance of the people on the pew that identify
themselves with Christ! If Steven were to sit and observe the lack of respect
that is given the house of God today, would he think it was worth the cost?
Brothers and sisters, there are rivers of wastewater flowing where once flowed
rivers if pure water!
We are unable to recognize a wolf these days, because he doesn’t have to wear sheep’s clothing anymore, he can come as he is and fit right in!! After all, that’s the motto of the Church today; “Come as you are”. Although that motto is true for sinners, it does not hold true for saints! Saints are supposed to be setting the example, not following it!
I saw an advertisement for a local so-called Baptist Church. In their ad they had a pair of jeans, and a descriptive phrase that said: “Church Clothes”. Let me be the first to say, WRONG! Why do I believe that it is wrong? I am glad you asked! Follow me…..
Well! What have we here? Please notice in the Kings
English “be clean, and change your garments” That doesn’t sound like “come as
you are” to me. He’s telling them to get cleaned up and change their clothes;
they are going to go to that place where they met with God! You just don’t wear
your every day clothes to God’s house. Christians, you ought not walk into the
Church house wearing whatever you feel like wearing! Change your garments! Put
on your very best for God. I am not talking about trying to out dress each
other. Wear the best you have! Did God not give you His very best? Also, please
notice the reaction to these comments: “And they gave
unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their
earrings which were in their ears” I wonder which part the earrings played, are
they a form of gods or are they unclean? Either way, they dared not wear them
before God! Yet men are wearing earrings to Church, they wear shorts to Church,
Tee Shirts (and some with wicked graphics on them), ball caps, etc. That only
covers what the men are wearing, I dare not mention what the women aren’t
wearing….. We are not going to our buddy’s house, the ball field or the beach!
We are supposed to be going to Church! You know, Church…God’s house! Christians
have no respect for the things of God these days. The Church is in sad
shape!
Pro 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but
fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Pro 1:22-33 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love
simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate
knowledge? Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you,
I will make known my words unto you. Because I have called, and ye refused; I
have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; But ye have set at naught all
my counsel, and would none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I
will mock when your fear cometh; When your fear cometh as desolation, and your
destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early,
but they shall not find me: For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose
the fear of the LORD: They would none of my counsel: they despised all my
reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled
with their own devices. For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and
the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall
dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
The Church is a joke to the lost crowd,
who, by the way have more respect (fear) for the Lord then to go to his house
half dressed. When they walk in the door, they walk out not only as lost as
they walked in, but also convinced that they are alright, they must be, they
fit right in with the people down at the Church house. A sinner should not be
comfortable in the house of God! There should be something there to convict
them as soon as they walk in the door. They should recognize the difference
between you and themselves without having to search for it. Stop being a sheep
in wolves clothing!
We hear some of the lamest excuses these days from Christians for why they dress like they do to come to the house of the Living God, like “Everybody else is doing it” or that famous Momma line, “well I am afraid they won’t fit in with their friends”. What does God’s Word say?
Exo 23:2 Thou shalt not follow a multitude
to do evil…
Pro 1:10 My son, if sinners entice thee,
consent thou not.
Pro
1:15 My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from
their path:
Momma, Daddy, stop making excuses for Junior! Teach him not to follow a multitude to do evil! And yes, a lack of respect for God IS EVIL! Praise God when they don’t fit in because they are doing right!! I’d be sore afraid if my children did fit in with the Church of today. Perhaps Mommy and Daddy need to stop making excuses for themselves as well…
You are teaching your children to live like the world and call themselves Christians!
It’s also not just in the Church house. Christians are partaking
in all sorts of worldly activities. There are some that put on the show at
church, yet are completely different at home and on the job. Jesus Christ is
the same yesterday, today and forever, shouldn’t we be also? When people see us
outside of Church, is Christ evident in us? It’s difficult to believe that
there is any evidence of Christ in the modern day Christian, whether it be on
the job, at the house or even in the Church house on Sunday. The Church is a
failing institution! The World abounds in wickedness, because the Church has no
power!
In order to restore power to the Church the Church will have to
repent! “Clean yourselves and change your garments!” “Renew you mind!” These
things were put in the Word of God to help us! Put them to use. Lose that old
stagnant mindset you have and feast on the Word of God!
Stop being a Sheep in wolves clothing! Put on the uniform of the team you are on! If that ungodly outfit you are wearing is your team uniform, then you might want to either change teams or get off the field, this isn’t your game!
