Gen 1:6-8
(6) And God said, Let
there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters
from the waters.
(Note 1: “”Let there
be”; indicative that there had not been before. This is also seen in v.
3,9,11,14,20,24…)
(Note 2: Let=Heb: “Pawtar”
to cleave or burst through. Not something that progressed through time.
Therefore another hole in theistic evolution theory)
(Note 3: Firmament=Heb
“raqiya”= an Expanse or visible arch of the sky: Webster’s Expanse=“a wide extent of space or body” This is the
space we see when we look around)
(7) And God made the
firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from
the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
(Note 1: God made this
space or expanse of air, and divided or drove it between the waters, thus
causing waters to separate, some above and some beneath it.)
Illustration: Use 3 volunteers. Have two represent one mass of water, have the third (the firmament) be like a wedge and come between the two.
(8) And God called the
firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
(Note 1: The evening and the morning determined the length of each day, this is indicative of the literality of one day, rather than theories of each day being 1000 yrs.)
