I will be visiting Coffee County in late March, and plan a clean-up
of the old PATTON family cemetery located in Cheatham Springs, near
Noah, north of Manchester, weather permitting. Buried in this cemetery
are my g-g-g-uncle and aunt Thomas and Jane SHAW PATTON, and several
other members of their family, including some STEPHENS. It is very
likely that my g-g-grandparents, Daniel and Rachel JARRETT PATTON
also rest here, in graves marked only by fieldstones but adjacent to
those of Thomas and Jane S. PATTON - Thomas and Daniel were brothers.
They were sons of Barbara and Cornelius PATTON of County Derry,
Ireland.
The cemetery is quite neglected, but access and parking are very
easy, as it is next to a paved road. Clippers, lopping shears, and
plastic trash bags would be useful in a clean-up. If you are in the
area and would like to join in this project, please contact me ahead
of time to coordinate plans.
