Looking for info about my great grandfather George
Washington SUMMERS. (married to Anna and then Hanna Heatherly)I can't
seem to find out who his mother and father were, because he was born
out of wedlock and adopted into the Summers family. His mother was
said to be Cherokee, and people believe his father was Bill Melton.

Looking for info on my great grandparents: Marshall
FERRELL, and Josephen DURHAM. Marshall is a decendant of Cannon Co.
but I am not to sure about Josephen I think she is also from Cannon.
Two of their sons were Ellis and Houston Ferrell. Ellis now resides
in Dekalb Co. and Houston died 2 to 3 years ago. Marshall was married
before and had 7 children, he then married Josephen and had another 7

Searching for info about Obie Duke in Cannon County. My
great-grandmother, Minnie Elkins Phillips' obituary listed Obie Duke
as a sister or a sister married to Obie Duke. Minnie was born 1881
and died 1953. She was the daughter of James Preston Elkins, born
1852 and his death info is unknown. Minnie's mother was Vicey Jane
Willoby, born 1859 and died in 1935 in Warren County. No one in my
family knows anything about Obie Duke. I hope that someone out there
will have some info.

In a court record dated 1891, a deposition was given by William
Barton of Cannon Co., Tn. He states that Edmond and Mary Lucretia
Stacy Caruthers had 4 children. They were: Lucretia who md. James
Ready, Maxwell who md. Mary Faulkenberry, and two other sons Tom
(Thomnas) and Ed (Edmond). He states in 1891 that Tom and Ed have
been gone for a long time. Tom was hired by his (William Barton's) brother
to help him take a "drove of horses" . They never came
back and were never heard of again. It is thought they may have gone
into Alabama with the horses. Does anyone have any information on
these people?

Seeking info on ODOM, Calvin Curlee born 11/02/1830 and OWEN, Lucy
born 10/22/1834. They are both buried ODOM Cemetery at Auburntown TN.
They had nine children. My ggrandfather was ODOM, Robert H born 1857
died 1911. Married STEPHENS, Minnie Lee born 1871 died 1930. They are also
buried in ODOM Cemetery. They had eight children. My grandmother was
Amanda Nelsie born 8/18/1896 Auburntown, died 2/22/1938 and is buried
in Cartersville GA. Married COLLIER,William U in Huntsville AL. They
had five children. Collier,Norman Phinizy born 1/2/1921 Cartersville
died Tacoma WA 1-9-1990. My father spoke very little of his family.
My sister and I would like to know more of our paternal family

I've had no luck finding infoon my Gunter line, in the Cannon Co. area. I'm stuck at
George Gunter 1881-1959. He had a brother named Harvey Gunter
1891-1967. I've been told by my Grandmother that their father's name
was Zeke. George was married to Minnie Ferrell 1886-1975.
Also researching Melton, Ford, Ferrell, and Nokes.

1.Gilley - I am looking for my GILLEY relatives. My branch came from
Henry Co VA to Henderson Co TN. I understand one branch came to the
Cannon/Coffee county area. My line =Francis Sr-George-William Buck-
John West-Anna John Gilley Flanagan (My GGrandmother).
2.BYRD - My husband looking for his Byrd line - Mr Byrd
(Henry?-supposedly Indian) went to Benton Co MS looking for Indian
realtives, married a Middleton girl, had a baby Callie Byrd born
1874, then he went back to OK reservation. That's all we know.
3.WILLIAMS - My husband's line - looking for where his GGGrandfather
came from. Solomon Lafayette Williams (son of a Cherokee) married a
girl from England, Sophia Beecham, had 6 kids (one born in 1978)and
moved to Hardeman Co TN.

Looking for info on Margaret Ann GUNTER, b abt April 1841, Cannon
County. She married a John Thomas DURK (marriage date or place
unknown) and had relocated to Boone County, Missouri by 1875-1880.
Their children are Turner b. 1878, Robt. Moses b. 1880, Thomas Henry
b. 1884, Jesse Ewing b. 1886, Emma Alice b. 1888, Annie Dailey b.
1890, and William Nelson b. 1893. She died in Boone County, Mo. in
1922. I'm trying to hook Margaret to ancestors. Any suggestions

According to Cannon Co. history books, Uriya STONE, lived on
Stone's River road near the spring or beginning of the river, hense
it was referred to as Stone's spring/river. Stone County, MO.
history books indicate that his son William Tilton Stone married
Martha HAILEY, in TN. and later moved to Galena, Mo., about 1833.
He was our first state representive. Stone County was named in his
honor. Can you help me document this connection back to TN. or KY?

Benjamin Franklin CHURCH and Mary Caroline THOMPSON m. in Cannon Co.,
TN, in 1848. Listed in the Rutherford Co., TN, U.S. Census of 1850
were Benjamin F. CHURCH (22), his wife Mary C. (19), and their son
John M. (2/12) - my great grandfather, John Marion CHURCH. Later the
family lived in Coffee Co., TN, and ultimately the family included
sons William Isaac (b. ca 1852), James Thomas F. (b. ca 1855),
Benjamin Franklin (b. ca 1860), and Calvin C. (b. ca 1862). I am

Seeking info on MARY COX SCRIVNER who died in Cannon Co. on
Feb. 19, 1839. She was the widow of Revolutionary veteran Benjamin
Scrivner who died in Smith Co. March 16, 1835. I'm guessing that
she was living with one of her daughters when she died. Daughters
married men named Cornelison, Patterson, Payne and Garvey.
Information from her obituary or any death record might lead me to
new avenues of research.
