During the Cherokee removal from their lands in 1838-39, one of the
overland routes for what has become known as the "Trail of Tears"
passed just to the east of Woodbury, TN and a historical marker now
commemorates their passing. The marker does not state there were
families residing in the area who were of Cherokee descent who may
have had to turn their backs as Indian relatives were herded past to
their new home in OK for fear that any acknowldgment of a
relationship would result in them or their families being swept up in
the removal.
An artist is considering a painting regarding this event, but is
interested in learning how many area families might have been
affected. I am assisting him in his research. If your family is of
Cherokee descent and was residing in the area during the 1838-39 time
frame, please email me and on the subject line enter the word,
"Cherokee," and in the body of the message, enter only your family's surname.

info on a John DANIEL b 1769 d 1853 that lived in the Short
Mountain area of Cannon Co. from fairly early 1800s until his
death. I know that he purchased several parcels of land in this area
and on the 1820 Warren Co. Census had six children in his
household. To date only the son Peter b 1811 has been found as a
given name. If information regarding this Daniel family is in either
book, I will be looking towards purchasing a copy from the Cannon
County Historical Society. This family seemed to stay away from the
main civilization area possibly because of Native American in the
line. Any information that you might have on my question, will be

Looking for info on the Fuller family who lived in
Cannon County, TN. My granduncle wrote the following
information about his great-grandmother:
AUSTIN WHEELER SMITH: She (Jane Fuller McGlocklin) was known to have
been related to Isaac (Ike) Fuller of Cannon Co. His father was
Thompson Fuller who married a Miss Pittard, daughter of Elijah (Lige)
Pittard, and had children: James, Jefferson Young, John A., Isaac
(Ike) Irbey, and Analize. Landon Fuller, of Woodbury, TN, son of
Isaac Irbey, has the tradition that the Fuller family came from
Franklin County, NC, where it joins Warren Co. Isaac (Ike) Irbey
Fuller married Betsy Ann Edwards, his cousin. They had issue: Adam,
Isaac, Jr., Willie, and Landon.
I am trying to find how Jane Fuller McGlocklin was related. I believe
she must have been the sister of Thompson Fuller (he is possibly the
Archibald T. Fuller who married Mary M. Pittard in Granville Co.,

Looking for a lost PHILLIPS family who lived somewhere around
the Warren Co. area in about 1850-60. We believe my grandfather,
Andrew Phillips, was born in 1855 in or near Warren Co. We have
exhaused our efforts in Warren Co and decided to seek help in the
surrounding area. We know he had an older brother named John and an
older sister (name unknown). Andrew's father was killed in the civil
war and his mother moved the family to KY, where she later died (abt
1865) leaving Andrew an orphan. We do not know the names of either
of his parents.
On a marriage license in about 1892 Andrew did list
his mothers maiden name as COBB. Andrew told his family his father
was killed at Manasses. We have searched for years to locate this
family. Would appreciate hearing from any PHILLIPS or COBB
researchers how might have a clue about this family.
