Looking for any info at all on a Mary DARNELL. She
married Thomas GIBSON in one of two counties, Coffee or Franklin, and
was living in McNairy County by the 1850 census. She was 35 at the
time of the 1850 census so that makes her birth year 1814 or 1815.
According to the census she was born in Georgia but I have no date as
to when she left the state. In the 1830's Thomas was known to be in
Coffee County with a Darnell male. Whether this male is a brother of
Mary, it's hard to say. Thomas was single at that time. Mary had
her first child at age 15. The son born was named Judge Harris
Gibson. She and Thomas went on to have an additional 7 children.
Any information on this Mary Darnell, or her family, would be greatly

She was born in Virgina around 1810. One is Martha BROWN who married
Jefferson EARP. I believe they were married in Bedford County,

in any other county or state. Jefferson and Martha spent most of
their married life in Coffee County, TN Martha died sometime
after the 1870 Coffee County TN Census.
I am also looking for a Thomas BROWN (he may have been related to
Martha). All I have on him is that he was married on November 27,
1823 in Rutherford County, TN to Rebecca SMOTHERS.
Rebecca SMOTHERS was a sister of Wilky SMOTHERS that married James
WINFREY also of Coffee County, TN. They wer born in Sumner
County early part of the 1800's Wilky or Milky and Rebecca parents
were John R. and Catherine (SHERWOOD) SMOTHERS. Some of James and

I am trying to identify my 3rd great grandparents. The oldest
daughter (Sarah) married Patterson HODGE around 1829. I read in a
Bedford history book that they were married in Bedford Co., were
there in the 1830 census, but in Coffee Co. in 1840. Since Coffee
Co. absorbed some of Bedford Co. in the 1830's, they probably
never moved. Sarah was the first of 8 children: Sarah (1814), Elijah
(1821), Andrew (1823), Anderson (1828), Mary Emily ( 1833), Clemenza
(1834), Martha Jane (1836) & Thomas (1838). There may have been a
daughter named Lucy (1810). The entire THOMPSON family, including
Patterson & Sarah HODGE and their 6 children, moved to Jefferson
Co. Illinois between 1840 and 1850. All I know about the Head of
Household is that his last name is THOMPSON and his wife appears as
head of household in 1850 in Illinois as Sintha THOMPSON. Mr.
THOMPSON evidently died between 1840 and 1850, but I can't determine
whether he died in TN or IL or where he and Sintha are buried.

Cannon Co., TN Census.
I believe that this may be the same Joshua Williams that married Jane
BASTON in Cannon Co., TN on 31 March 1847 and may have been the
Joshua Williams, Sr. in the 1840 Rutherford Co., TN Census.

My gggrandfather, William BRUCE, and family members still living with
him, are listed on the 1850 census for Coffee Co. His wife's
name was Joicy, and I believe she died between 1850 and 1860 as he
moved to TX to live with a daughter and son-in-law. Does anyone have
access to marriage records, specifically the marriage between William
W. BRUCE and Sarah KEELING probably between 1845-1850 ? Does anyone
have access to the death record for Joicy (Terry JOYCE) BRUCE ? Does
anyone have info regarding a son named Jeremiah BRUCE who left home
at an early age and went to TX ?
