The main areas of activity right now are social and charity planning and improving the quality of our Cam/Anarch game. We are now having a very successful weekly social at a local coffee shop. I’m hoping this provides a means that members can get to know each other better as people rather than characters and form some stronger OOC relationships to each other. Like any fairly large group of people, our chapter has a couple of cliques and this seems to be improing relations between those as well. Last night we had a social to go see Brotherhood of the Wolf. Good movie, but I recommend not sitting by anyone fluent in French as apparently the subtitles aren’t nearly as funny as the actual movie. Also on the drawing board is some form of Ordeal Party. We are currently having a Goodwill drive/clothing drive for the Alachua County Sherriff’s Office Boys’ Ranch which will continue through the next couple of months. We also have some members that have gotten involved in Champs, a local junior high school mentoring program. A hot topic of discussion at last night’s coffee social was what charities we wish to support with the money from our regional weekend event. We are also looking at working with the Girl Scouts and March of Dimes. In other news, we’ve done a lot of travelling this month. There were, that I recall, at least nine of us that were all present at one of Ocala’s games this month and seven who were able to visit Orlando’s Sunday night Cam/Anarch because of the MLK Jr Day holiday. We also had Evan Odensky, ARST Mage for South Central Region, in town for grad school interviews and he was able to meet and greet some of the locals. Our chapter is fortunate enough to have some really experienced and dedicated VST Garou staff, which has resulted in a kick ass Garou venue. Unfortunately, our Cam/Anarch game, while it is still drawing a crowd of locals and nonlocals, looks very lacking in comparison. I have been working closely with Jarrod, our CST, and the rest of the staff on this situation, and we’ve come to the conclusion that a lot of our problems lie in player education. Therefore, we are going to be starting a series of workshops on Cam/Anarch themes such as Protocols, Status, Influences, and Background Writing. We intend to do this for Garou as well, but as Garou has been so successful, the current focus is Cam/Anarch. The Garou venue also got its own IC list serv, as there are a lot of out of towners whose characters live at our Sept and this allows them greater access to downtime RP. We are planning an Event weekend for May 31st-June 2nd (any coordinators with conflicting events PLEASE contact me ASAP). The Cam/Anarch Gainesville Ball will be held on Saturday, June 1st with a tentative Shakespearian theme and a Garou Tourney on Friday, May 31st. Saturday during the day or perhaps Sunday will include a football social, most likely Gainesville vs. Orlando (or anyone else who wants to bring their chapter in on the action!).
