Riding Lessons

Our Lesson Program here at Paradise Ranch is somewhat different than what you find at a lot of stables. We do NOT train for show, we do NOT offer big group lessons, and we do NOT pressure our students into anything they are not ready to do. You do NOT need an expensive horse or fancy riding gear to learn with us. What you will find at Paradise Ranch, is a quiet atmosphere, privacy, no pressure and a laid back environment that makes learning easy.

All lessons are private or semi-private to ensure one-on-one instruction. Our lessons are geared towards students that would like to become safe, confident and effective riders that can communicate with their mounts effectively.

Many of our adult students have ridden as children and are now trying to get back in the saddle. Others are trying to fulfill their life long dreams of riding a horse. The parents of our younger students are seeking a safe and educational environment for their horse crazed youngsters that not only teaches them to ride, but that also includes proper and safe horse care and handling. We firmly believe, that a rider must be able to be in control of the horse at all times and under all circumstances, regardless of surroundings and distractions. Therefore, all our lesson do include some ground work to establish control of the horse before getting in the saddle. After all, who wants to ride a horse that cannot safely be led from the barn to the arena?

All lessons are individualized and will progress at the student’s pace. If the rider cannot control the horse at a walk, we will not move on to a faster gait....if the rider cannot control the horse in an enclosed environment, we will not ride out in the pasture. All our lessons are designed to help our students achieve the ability to safely ride the horse even through the most difficult situations. Our lessons will vary from arena work, riding in the pasture, and even an occasional trail ride to make your riding experience fun and educational. We will work over obstacle courses (NO jumping), there are logs, wooded areas, creeks and hills to ride through and over anything. Our program is designed to build confidence in the Horse AND the Rider. Please call to schedule an appointment to come out and meet me and my horses!
