Here I will give you free information on ways to save you money with your web-site. I will occasionally add new tips as I discover them.
Almost everybody has web space provided with their internet connection plan. To access this space requires typing in a long name such as: First Things First
http://www.earthlink.net/~yourwebspace.html
You can put your web-site up on the space provided, but most people hate to type in that long name, so you decide to buy a domain name. When you buy a domain name, your internet provider will offer to "host" your site for an additional charge a month. This is so that people can type in your domain name such as:
www.example.com
and get to your web-site. Well, unless your planning on 5000 hits a month on your web-site, go with a redirect service instead of a hosting service. Redirection.net is the best. $7.50 a year. It changes your web "space" address to the domain name you have registered. This can save you anywhere from $300 to $600 or more a year. It takes your domain address such as:
www.example.com
and redirects it to your web "space" (or any) address that would look something like this:
http://www.earthlink.net/~yourwebspace.html
If you haven't registered your domain name yet, then do it through Redirection.net. It is only $9.95 a year and you can sign up for both services at the same time from the same order form. They make it very easy to do. Plus you get quite a few options with email, cloaking your real address, etc. The site is easy to navigate and tells you about all the extras. If you decide to use me as your web designer, I will help you with the registering process if you need it. Second Things Second
If you don't want to pay any money at all for redirection and/or a domain name, then check out ShortURL.com. It is a free service that will give you a SubDomain name like mine. All they do is put a very small unobtrusive link back to them on the bottom of your page. I highly recommend them. You can redirect your SubDomain to your long web address as I described in "First Things First." The only difference would be that your SubDomain name would have one extra extension like "vze": More Stuff
www.example.vze.com
It's the closest thing you can get to a real Domain Name without paying any money.
